How does breeze litter system work

Hi Patricia. You can use equine pelletized bedding instead of the pellets that come with the unit. If your cat urinates a lot and the bottom tray of the Breeze system gets overloaded you can replace the bottom drawer with the plastic litter box mentioned on my tips and placing the suggested pads that are larger.

I think my almost 2 month old kitten ate the pellets. Will it dissolve in his stomach or should I be concerned? I purchased 2 units as I have 2 cats. I really like them as it is much easier to keep them clean. Does anyone have a solution for this? Hello Judy, this sometimes happens with litter boxes that feature tall walls connected to the base, like the Tidy Cats and when this happens is more likely when used by male cats.

What you can do is somehow try to seal the sides where the walls and the base are connected. I put a puppy pad underneath I just get the Kirkland brand just in case this happens. I stumbled upon this thread when I was looking to see if I could wash the pellets, and stayed to read the comments. However, I began using this system when my poor little tabby girl was sick, and this was not a great option because she had chronic diarrhea she was years old, and had hyperthyroid and other complications.

I believe they were playing with a couple. Can the make them ill? What do I do? I had 4 cats when I first got the system. Unfortunately, my oldest 15 passed away shortly after. Not related to the product—she was going downhill prior to purchase. Now I have three who use the system like pros. I bought it because I was going through two-three 40lb bags of clay litter per month!

Initially I was having a problem with the drawer filling up and having to change the pads times a day. My solution—I took the drawer out and put the system down in my old litter box that I had put a little regular litter in.

One 40 lb bag of clay litter lasts about months! I scoop the box daily and I only have to change out the litter in the under box about once a week. My only other complaint is the cats act like the pellets are confetti. When they finish using the box.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the litter box Wendy, I am happy you adapted the Tidy Breeze to make it work better for you. I switched to the breeze system two weeks ago. My cat will pee in it but will not poop. How do I get him to go number two in it? Hi Norah, it may be a gross solution but try to pick a dry stool with a paper towel and put it on the breeze. That will make your cat to do 2 in there. I purchased the system 2 weeks ago.

I have a Siamese mix who is 4 years old. She thinks the pellets are quite fun to play with. I had two traditional litter boxes before and have let them get gross. How long until she uses the new box??? Hi Shawna, sorry to hear about your cat not using the Tidy Cats System.

Some cats take longer than others to adopt new litter boxes and it seems like your baby is one of them. I would suggest you to leave only the Tidy Cats System without any other litter box and see what happens. I personally use the Litter Robot for my cat and my life changed dramatically after I switched to it. I only grab a bag with the waste every Sunday when I put the garbage out.

You can check my review of this here. I love the Tidy Cat Breeze litter box. I have two cats and they urinate a lot. My home is very small so I have to keep the box in my bedroom.

I bought the dollar store pet training pads and cut them in half. I have to clean the draw at least once a day. At first, I tried the pine pellets but it was very messy. I thought the tidy cat pellets would be too expensive but in the long run it has worked out great.

The only downside is I wish the box was bigger. Has anyone tried cleaning the pellets in a washing machine? If so do you have any tips on how to do it? Hello Merry, a good tip to wash the pellets it is putting them in a washable bag to go in the washing machine and the dryer.

I do this! Just make sure they cool off before putting it back in the litter box. This has saved me thousands of dollars between my three cats since I started doing this. I spend basically nothing on litter anymore except maybe replenishing the Breeze pellets one a year or so due to the pieces that gets tucked to poop and get tossed out. Highly recommend this method!! Can I ask a silly question so you put in washing powder with it or just in the washing machine without powder.

Washing the pellets is only an option if your cat has been only-indoor since kitten. That way there is not risk of pathogens entering the washing machine.

You can use a tiny bit of shampoo for babies if you want. I am picking up an 8 week old kitten today. Any tips on getting her to use this system? Hello Rachael, pay attention when the kitten drinks water or eats, just after any of these actions, put your kitten in the litter box. Repeat this until he or she will start using it. I would like the Breeze litter box to be a bit larger.

She is doing ok in it, though! The more info i read, is recommended up to a 10 cat. Am awaiting tomorrow am when i change the urine pad. Then do i wash the drawer in soapy water? I have not read any directions about the washing of the drawer. Hi Pris, wash the drawer every week.

As it is in contact with the urine pad, it needs to be washed often. I wipe the tray with Lysol 9or other sanitizing wipes after dumping the pad. Works very well, and is much easier. Hi Bailey, the Breeze System is meant to be used with pellets to let urine go down to the urine pads. This system was a major change for us too, but it has been great and much cleaner than any other I have used. Ultimately, it is a personal choice though. I have an older kitty who pees in the Breeze box but she insists on pooping on the floor outside.

This has been going on for 2 months. Is there any way I can convince her to use the Breeze litter box? Maybe add the old litter in with the Breeze system and ween your cat onto the Breeze system over time. I have an older cat as well, when she did this I realized I had neglected the pad a bit too long for her liking. I changed it and she stared using it again. Mom learned her lesson. However when she refused to go 2 initially, I placed a couple of her Poos in the new Breeze box and showed her to help her understand.

Within a day or so she caught on. Those pellets do not absorb fecal odor. I have 2 cats and the house stinks because of it. Has anyone else been able to overcome this problem? I sprayed Lysol on the pellets until I read that it could be harmful to the cats. Thanks for your input. Arm and hammer makes a baking soda powder for sprinkling on traditional litter to extend the odor eliminating time. The powder works on the breeze pellets too, in my experience. It also extends the urine odor elimination time as some of the powder will inevitably get through the vent and onto the pad.

This system is terrible. We have had cats for over 40 years and used regular litter and never a problem. We are cat sitting and the breeze system is here and the smell gags you even with changing the pee pads daily……. How many cats are using the system and do you have other litter boxes in the house?

Adding another litter box may help and you may want to check the interior of the system — urine can sometimes escape the tray and cause lingering odor. They use the breeze a lot more. I get 2 kits every month switch out the pellets in the middle of the month since a half a bag works fine for them this way.

I am looking at the Breeze XL for my cats. One of my cats is a male that pees high on the side wall- which is why we replaced our Booda boxes with high-walled rubbermaid totes. When he peed in the Booda the urine would leak out where the lid attached to the bottom.

The Breeze system is innovative and appears to be much easier to use and I would rather pay for the pellets and pads than a box of dirt as my husband puts it. I have the XL for my older male who also urinates pretty high. I have had no issues. The most I can go to change out the pad is 3 days. But the smell is simply horrendous. I am home, so I scoop the box 3 times daily. The smell comes from the pellets, and it is truly awful!!

The entire room reeks, and thus the remainder of the house. I contacted Purina who makes the system and they offered free coupons. I asked if there was a possibility the pellets are defective or something wrong with production enitre system is from China and all the person would say was change out all the pellets even though they are literally 4 days old and coupons will be mailed.

If this smell continues and I did completely change it all out I will be asking for a refund. I bought the hooded system as well as the XL sytem for the two kittens. So I spent alot of money. I purchased the two systems from PetSmart. I feed my cat homemade raw cat food and there is very little smell from cat poop. And my Breeze box is near the kitchen and very close to the back door which we always use, so I would surely be aware of smells.

I have had pet sitters comment how they cannot smell any evidence that I have a cat. I have been using this system for about a year. Shop Tidy Cats. This litter system is a game changer. I have two cats and we have a Breeze box for each a regular size for my kitten and the XL for my 23lb cat.

I change the pellets every 6 weeks and the pee pads twice a week for my big guy, and once a week for the kitten. I was worried the pee pads would smell when fully saturated but they do an exceptional job covering odors - we don't smell it all!

We notice the poo smell when they've just gone we did with clay litter, too , but the pellets do a decent job absorbing it quickly. Both my cats adjusted quickly to the new boxes.

The pellets are little more difficult to move around than the clay, but they've gotten the hang of it. Clean up is simple - change This litter system is a game changer. Clean up is simple - change the pee pad, flush the dried poo. The best part is no more litter on the floor! You might find a few pellets outside the box but those are easy to clean up. Definitely recommend! When I first bought this, I was thrilled with the idea of no tracking and less smell.

However, after a week, my 2 cats are stressed over the smell. Even with daily scooping AM and PM and weekly cleaning, it's either the fact they can't really cover their waste very well or the smell from the pad I haven't decided which is bothering them the most. Whenever they use the box, they just scratch and scratch. One of them even goes back, again and again, trying to cover the smell. Also, since the pellets do not absorb, the feces are unable to clump with the litter.

The pellets just "stick" to the feces until it dries up, which can get smeared in the box whenever scooping, or in their case, scratching When I first bought this, I was thrilled with the idea of no tracking and less smell.

The pellets just "stick" to the feces until it dries up, which can get smeared in the box whenever scooping, or in their case, scratching and trying to cover.

It's really a chore to change out the pad and wash the entire system weekly, and sometimes twice. While I keep two bags of the pellets in the box as instructed, this does not seem to be enough for them. Unfortunately, this is simply not the system for my girls, nor me. In theory, this could be a great system. The problem with the system is that you must use their products for it to work - litter pellets more specifically. The pellets are hard and do not cover any fecal smell as the cats can't bury the waste.

They need to figure out a way that the cats can bury and then it would be deserving of a better rating. As far as the urine collection - yes, it works well and does reduce not eliminate the smell.

Needs improvement - a lot of improvement. I would not recommend it. I definitely got my hopes up over this litter box. I thought this was a great alternative for dusty litter without having to spend a high dollar amount. I have had my kitten now for 3 days and I already think I need to change the pellets because every time she poops, the pellets get covered in it but only the ones attached to the poop get scooped out.

It does not mask any smells and the smell between the feces and the pellets is quite terrible. I plan to go buy traditional litter and a litter box tomorrow. Waste of money. For now, check out the reviews on Amazon and know that some people suggest just buying horse pellet bedding, which is even cheaper than the pine bedding and is the same thing!

One of the absolute best things about this litter system is that it is so easy to clean. It consists of four plastic parts: the scooper; the sides, which clip on to the main body; the main body; and the tray that slides in to the main body and holds the pee pads.

When we lived in apartments, we just took everything apartment and cleaned it in the shower. If small pieces of the pellets get stuck the grates on the main body of the pan, use something the size of a butter knife to knock them out. Use a hair dryer if you need to speed up the drying before adding new pellets in. We use this method now in a townhouse when the weather is bad or cold.

However, if your kitty is pickier, Tidy Cats recommends mixing the new litter pellets in to the regular litter so you cats can get used to them. You can also place the new litter box next to the old one to get them comfortable with their new digs.
